Biography

Olga Tacan was born in 1980.

Her artistic education began in childhood at the Children’s Art School (1992–1996) and continued at the Art Studio of the Gymnasium (1996–1998). She later studied Leather Goods Design Engineering at the University of Design and Technology (1998–2001), where she developed a strong foundation in drawing, design, composition, and craftsmanship.

From 2008 to 2017, Olga worked professionally as a footwear designer in Moscow and Guangzhou, China. Living in Guangzhou from 2010 to 2017, she collaborated with footwear manufacturers, developing collections for international production while maintaining an independent artistic practice.

Alongside her design career, she continued to paint in oil and watercolor, produced pencil drawings, and created illustrations and visual concepts for fashion collections and advertising.

Between 2017 and 2021, she worked as an independent footwear designer, gradually shifting her professional focus from industrial design to fine art.

During these years, painting became less a parallel activity and increasingly the center of her creative life.

Since 2021, Olga has devoted herself entirely to plein-air painting. Based in Lutry, Switzerland, she paints almost daily around Lake Léman and nearby towns, returning to the same landscapes in changing light and seasons. Her work explores atmosphere, color relationships, and the emotional impression of place rather than its literal description.

This ongoing daily practice has grown into CERULEANISM, a long-term artistic project that combines painting, exhibitions, monthly plein-air journals, and literary reflections on the life of a contemporary painter. Through hundreds of studies created directly from observation, Olga continues to investigate how repeated encounters with the same landscape reveal new ways of seeing.

She currently lives and works in the Canton of Vaud, Switzerland.
